![]() TITBITS ON LUMB 1 – One of the female characters (having internalised her repression) thinks that women "dream too much" for their own good. It is just an Indie film which presents something in a honest, concise and reflective manner. LUMB certainly does not look "wholesome" in terms of dealing with each of those 4 stories. 2 - Conveys the Pain, Frustration and Desperation in the lives of women, inflicted upon them by their family/husband because of social bigotry/prejudices/traditions. But it certainly does 2 things: 1 - Acts as a "mirror" to the Conservative, Patriarchal and Misogynist Indian society. But the film is not a society-bashing one and does not offer any solutions to the lives of these 4 repressed ladies. ![]() ![]() Such Repression results in the following miseries: marital rape, restricted lifestyle and forced marriages. Lipstick Under My Burkha is a thoughtful and watchable Indie film which showcases the lives of 4 socially and sexually repressed women, who are looking for ways to get out of the stifling families they are living in.
